I've heard the doubles in some dorms are actually singles that are turned into doubles, are the doubles in New House/DH like that?

The New House doubles are twice the size of singles; there are no forced doubles. Also our doubles are pretty nice size, so I don't think you'll feel too cramped. ~ Katie
