Definitely don't pack dishes, DH has got you covered. Would highly recommend a mattress topper if u can bring one. We also have communal fridges so unless you have A LOT of stuff, you probably wont need a mini fridge. SHOWER SHOES! SCISSORS. I feel like I use scissors every day to open up packages, cut packages of soda, or anything else. Also, an umbrella, it rains a fair amount in Cambridge, and having a small one in my backpack has saved me from getting drenched at least 4 or 5 times. Tamara recommends a power strip, and I think this is definitely essential for your desk. As a side note, you don't need to pack any first-aid supplies or general over-the-counter medicine.
