Rice Pudding (Milchreis)

Ingredients

1.75 cup dry white rice
3 unit eggs
1 unit Frozen strawberries (w/sugar)
1.25 cup heavy Cream
6.4 cup milk
1.5 cup sugar

Directions

Pour milk, 6 tablespoons of sugar (only!!!), and 1 tablespoon of vanilla into a thick heavy pot. Bring to a boil. Mix in milk. Turn heat to medium-low (2 or so). Stir every few minutes. Let cook until the rice is cooked and the milk has almost completely boiled away (almost gone but not burned at all!!). (20 minutes) If the milk has almost completely boiled away and the rice is not yet cooked, add 2 cups of milk and continue cooking.

Add the cream, eggs, and 3 tablespoons of sugar to the pot and mix well.

Transfer all to a baking dish with sides. Put in a 400 degree oven for 8 minutes.

Then, add the rest of the sugar to the top. Turn the oven temp to "Broil." Put the baking dish on the top shelf. Leave the oven door cracked open 3 inches. Let the sugar caramelize for 1-2 minutes.

Serve warm with strawberries on the side.
