Tamarind Bay Lalla Mussa Dal (epic)

Ingredients

0.5 lb butter
0.5 lb heavy Cream
1 lb lentils
0.67 tbsp paprika
0.67 tbsp salt
0.5 lb tomato puree
8.5 cup water

Directions

1. Combine lentils and water in pot and bring to a boil, uncovered. Reduce heat to low and simmer until the lentils become very soft, about one hour.

2. When the water has reduced to half, add tomato puree. Cook for at least 15 to 20 minutes or until the mixture is very thick.

3. Put paprika in a small bowl and add water, stirring, to make a thin paste. Add this to the lentils.

4. Add butter and cook until the mixture becomes thick again. Pay attention to the amount of butter. Yes there's a lot, but it doesn't cook right otherwise.

5. Add the cream to the simmering mixture. Cook until it becomes thick again.

6. Add salt to taste.
