Arabic Rice

Serves 5

Ingredients

1 tbsp allspice: ground
1.25 lb boneless chuck roast
2 tbsp cinnamon
3 tbsp garlic powder
0.25 unit green onions
0.25 cup lentils
1 unit rice vinegar
0.25 cup slivered almonds
4 cup water

Directions

Cut beef into very small pieces (1-2 cm).

Mix beef with half the garlic powder, cinnamon, and allspice.

Cook beef over medium heat until meat is browned and cooked through.

Cook lentils according to packaging.

Cook rice on the stove (not rice cooker) according to packaging. Add one vegetable boullion cube per cup of water when preparing the rice. Once cooked, add the other half of the cinnamon, garlic powder, and allspice.

Toast the almonds just until light brown.

Chop the green onions.

Add onions to rice and mix together.

Divide the rice in half and add beef to one half and lentils to the other half as a vegetarian version.

Serve with rice wine vinegar and almonds
(If there are no DHers with nut allergies, the almonds can also be incorporated with the onion)
