Challa Bread

Serves 36

Ingredients

1 cup Canola Oil
3 unit eggs
16.7 cup flour
2 tbsp salt
1 cup sugar
4 cup Water
2.25 tbsp yeast

Directions

In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Add the sugar and let stand for 2 minutes. it will start to bubble (very slightly).

Add the salt, oil, and eggs and mix well.

Slowly add the flour, 2 cups at a time and mixing after each addition. As the mixture becomes stiff, use your hands to knead the dough. Knead for about 7 minutes or until all the flour is incorporated. You might not need to put in all the four. When you poke it and it bounces back its good.

Let rise for about an hour.

Punch down the dough. Divide the dough into 1" thick rolled strips that are about a foot long (can be longer or shorter). Braid the bread (I like a 6 braid but do what you know) and place on a grease pan. Allow to rise again (about 1/2 hour-honestly not mandatory).

Brush with egg glaze and add your favorite toppings (we like sesame seeds).

Bake at 375 for 35 minutes.
